Motorcyclist Killed, Woman Critical After Being Thrown From Bike In Maryland Crash: Police

One person was killed and a woman suffered serious injuries after crashing a motorcycle during a late-night ride on Labor Day in Howard County, police say.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, a 2006 Yamaha R6 was traveling north on Route 29 at Rivers Edge Road in Columbia when the driver lost control and crashed off the roadway.

Both the driver and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died and she was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The name of the victim is expected to be released once his family is notified of the fatal crash.
